Opportunity | Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Yale Center for British Art is offering a Postdoctoral Research Associateship in the Division of Research, Exhibitions, and Publications. This division supports and provides oversight to the following departments, activities, and positions: exhibitions and publications; research, education, and public programs; academic outreach and teaching initiatives; visiting scholars; postdoctoral and postgraduate positions; graduate and undergraduate student positions; and the Reference Library and Archives. The Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) will primarily be engaged in the development of scholarly programs, in particular the annual graduate student symposium; act as a point person for scholars in residence and support administrative duties pertaining to the visiting scholars program; engage with graduate and undergraduate students; and provide support and research assistance for the development of exhibitions curated by the deputy director of the division, which for the duration of the postdoctoralship will concentrate on twentieth-century British art. The PRA will be expected to participate in the research activities of the Center (and at Yale), and will also develop his or her own scholarship. One day per week will be given to pursue research in personal areas of specialization. Modest travel funding will be provided to allow the PRA to attend one professional conference annually and for undertaking work on behalf of the division, as well as for personal research, as determined by the deputy director of the division.
