Photographer Hoda Afshar takes us across history, dissolving the boundaries of staged and documentary photography to make visible the stories that are not immediately seen. In her new book, Speak the Wind (2021, MACK), Afshar looks at the southern coast of Iran in a narrative that blends poetry and the image to explore displacement and spirituality. But how does an artist reveal these hidden stories?
Afshar will be joined by TPG Director Brett Rogers as she gives insight into her practice and an approach that combines newer and more traditional photographic techniques as she works across both still and moving images.
