The British Museum is seeking a Photographer to join our team within the Collection Services department. This role is designed to introduce a junior/entry level photographer to the photographic and imaging demands of a major cultural institution in the 21st century, whilst providing a developmental environment for the individual in the field of heritage imaging.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Produce high quality digital and film images to meet agreed creative briefs in line with Photography and Imaging workflow procedures
- Process images and enter data into the Museum image database
- Liaising with collection management colleagues on the delivery and return of objects to respective departments
- As required, work outside normal working hours and work on locations in UK and abroad
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in a professional photographic environment and will have a high quality portfolio of relevant work. With skills in Adobe Photoshop and/or other image editing software, you will have a practical understanding of digital capture, including low and high end capture devices and colour management. A knowledge of Capture One Pro imaging software would be advantageous.
