Job: Photographer, The British Museum

The British Museum is seeking a Photographer to join our team within the Collection Services department. This role is designed to introduce a junior/entry level photographer to the photographic and imaging demands of a major cultural institution in the 21st century, whilst providing a developmental environment for the individual in the field of heritage imaging.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Produce high quality digital and film images to meet agreed creative briefs in line with Photography and Imaging workflow procedures
  • Process images and enter data into the Museum image database
  • Liaising with collection management colleagues on the delivery and return of objects to respective departments
  • As required, work outside normal working hours and work on locations in UK and abroad

Person specification:

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience of working in a professional photographic environment and will have a high quality portfolio of relevant work. With skills in Adobe Photoshop and/or other image editing software, you will have a practical understanding of digital capture, including low and high end capture devices and colour management. A knowledge of Capture One Pro imaging software would be advantageous.

We are looking for a proactive individual who is able to communicate clearly with customers concerning delivery of image requirements and with colleagues. With high organisation skills and flexibility, you will able to adapt to changing priorities and complete large jobs to a high quality.
