Fashion photographer wanted for participatory commission with people with learning disabilities.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist learning disability services in community and inpatient settings. These are mutli-disciplinary services with specialisms in health facilitation, parenting and autism/Asperger’s, challenging behaviour, mental health, complex physical health, and dementia.
Make Your Mark, the arts and health programme for Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, is collaborating with staff and service users from the learning disability service to develop a photographic project. The project’s focus will be the relationship between people with learning disabilities and themes of identity, fashion, choice, empowerment, stigma and exclusion.
Commission outline (subject to funding)
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced photographers to work with a group of people with learning disabilities who use the services of Sussex Partnership. Applicants must have a proven interest in fashion and themes of identity/choice, established track record in participatory photographic practice and experience of working with people with disabilities.
The commission will take place April-September 2017. It will be delivered across Sussex and conclude with an exhibition and showcase of learning from the project.
The commission is for 16 days to include travel, preparation, meetings, delivery, curation, production, supervision and evaluation. Commission fee £3,150 (equivalent to £26.25 per hour). Please note the commission is subject to funding. A materials and production budget will be provided.
