Open Call for Artists – 2018 International Photography Festival
PHOTO IS:RAEL invites artists to send proposals for the thematic exhibition and special projects at the 6th Photography Festival, which will take place in November 2018 in Tel Aviv.
The theme this year is: Relations
The Oxford Dictionary defines “relation” as “the way in which two or more people or things are connected; a thing’s effect on or relevance to another.”
The term “relations” (and its close kin, “relationship”) appears in countless contexts, from the most personal and intimate worlds to the spheres of politics, sociology, and science: intimate relations, forbidden relations, interpersonal relations, same-sex relationship, open relationship, international relations, diplomatic relations, social relations, good relations, therapeutic relationship, dual relationship, sexual relations, symbiotic relationship, financial relationship, romantic relationship, primary relationship, broken relationship…
The subject of relations, on the numerous worlds and interpretation associated with it, has always been a central subject matter for artists, curators, and scholars. In the upcoming festival, we wish to explore this theme from different angles, as well as its relevance in today’s world, and the new ways it can be represented.
Artists working with photography, video, performance, and multimedia, from all over the world and in all stages of their career are invited to send proposals for existing or planned works on the theme.
A panel of art professionals will review the proposals and select the participating artists.
Deadline: 25.6.2018
*An application fee of $15 includes a registration fee and an entrance ticket to the Photography Festival to all submitting artists.
