Technical Demonstrator in Photography

We are looking to appoint a Photographic Technical Demonstrator to work within the Photography studios at Birmingham City University. The purpose of this post is to provide high-level technical instruction and demonstration on our international facing photography programmes. The role requires advanced skills in using digital and analogue cameras, flash and continuous lighting, image processing software, studio management and experience of traditional photographic processing.

We welcome applications from current photographic practitioners with considerable experience working in busy photographic studios, on location and with experience in demonstrating a range of photographic equipment.

Qualified to degree level and experience in, but not limited to the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Evidence of practical photography experience.
  • Qualified to degree level in Photography, Fine Art or Media related subject
  • DSLR operations
  • SLR Operations
  • Large Format operations
  • Studio (operation and set-up)
  • Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom
  • Capture One Pro
  • Wet processing
  • Studio lighting
  • Large format technical camera operation
  • Digital back operation
  • Flash Photography

Desirable:

  • A postgraduate level teaching qualification
  • Streaming photography for the web
  • COSHH qualification
  • IOSH qualification
