Freelance photographers have already been hit hard by COVID-19 and will continue to be impacted by loss of assignments as we face this global health crisis. Many independent photojournalists have substandard access to healthcare and cannot afford to face prolonged loss of income.
This Emergency Fund is meant to provide a small amount of one-time support to independent women and non-binary photographers who need assistance — there are no restrictions on what the funding can cover: it can be healthcare, childcare, rent, or professional expenses. Photographers may request up to $500 in support, though we ask that you request only for what you critically need so that we can attempt to help as many people as possible.
Please spread the word — this is open to all professional women and non-binary photographers, not just those in the Women Photograph Database, though we will give Women Photograph members priority. We aim to be as inclusive as possible in our support.
To simplify fund disbursement, you must have a working Paypal account in order to accept Emergency Fund stipends.
The fund will be open from Monday, March 30 to Friday, April 3 — we will reopen applications if we receive more funding and have increased capacity for support.
If you are interested in donating to the fund, you can make an individual contribution here. If you’re a corporation or non-profit who would like to partner up, please reach out to daniella@womenphotograph.com.
