Yingying’s work focuses on the question of personal identity in relation to new surroundings. One of her main projects, Disorientation, casts a light upon Asian overseas student’s life. Yingying blends both fiction and reality in her staged work and in the images below she is exploring the idea of identity and the mask. By inviting a group of young women artists to embed their faces in the snow Yingying then re animates these deathly snow masks with vivid lights. The work is both a performance documented and a series of still photographs. The first image depicts the young women creating their masks. The second image is a compilation of the re animated masks.
