Beginning with a poem, imagined as a map – Pietra di Luce saw Sabine Mirlesse journey to various white mineral quarries in Tuscany. Each dig, revealed a new form, stone, material from which Mirlesse studied. She is presenting fractures; photograms and sketches all of which highlight the marks, natural forms and manmade intervention due to excavation. I was delighted to see this body of work come together in a book formation after seeing snippets of it a few years ago.
