photo basel is Switzerland’s first and only art fair dedicated solely to photography. Now in its eleventh edition, the fair welcomes more than 40 international galleries, presenting more than 450 works by around 170 artists showcasing both contemporary and classical photographic works. In addition to the exhibited works, photo basel offers an extensive supporting programme, including free guided tours, special curated routes, and panel talks.

Among the highlights of the fair are internationally renowned artists including Vivian Maier, Marina Abramović, Imogen Cunningham and Susa Templin.

The fair features “beyond photography”,  a curated selection of artistic positions that expand the medium of photography beyond its traditional boundaries through various experimental printing techniques as well as the transition from the two-dimensional image to three-dimensional form. The section brings together different approaches and highlights practices that actively rethink the medium of photography.
