Every June, Copenhagen comes alive with photography. For 11 days the city is transformed with exhibitions, talks, performances and events that explore how images shape the way we see the world. For this year’s 17th edition the theme is: Forestillinger | Scenarios, which invites us to imagine new worlds, challenge perspectives, and explore the powerful role images play in shaping how we see ourselves and each other.

At the heart of the festival is Festival Centre at The Royal Danish Theatre on Kongens Nytorv – a historic landmark reimagined as a stage for contemporary photography. Here you can experience the main exhibitions, join talks and debates, and soak up the festival atmosphere.  Highlights include: Magnum photographer and artist Carolyn Drake, Swedish photographer and artist Maja Daniels and Irish-British artist and photographer Rhiannon Adam.

The festival also extends across Copenhagen and Southern Sweden through 30+ partner venues – from major museums to small galleries and independent pop-ups – making the city a vibrant playground for lens-based art.

If you want to explore works of upcoming photographers and artists, you should visit VÆKST, a free and experimental exhibition space dedicated to photographers of the future and emerging artists. One of the exhibitions at VÆKST is FUTURES Nordic Talents 2026 showing work by four artists who were selected from the festival’s open call, an all-women line up featuring Liv Latricia Habel, Loulou Buxbom, Mari Mäntynen and María Kristín Antonsdóttir.
