‘Fast Forward 10 Years’ by Emma Jones & ‘What Research is Being Funded?’ by Susanna Galbraith in Source #117

10 Years of Fast Forward

The research project Fast Forward was founded ten years ago to raise the profile of women in photography. Emma Jones interviewed Fast Forward director Anna Fox about what’s changed in the decade since.

What Research is Being Funded?

What research into photography-related subjects was funded during 2024? Who is providing the funding? And what is it being used for? On pages 11/12 of Source, Susanna Galbraith’s article answers these questions.

One of the biggest funding awards for a photography research project in 2024 was to the University for Creative Arts for the Fast Forward collaborative project Putting Ourselves in the Picture 2 : Engaging with Industry. Fast Forward are working with partner organisations: Autograph, Creative Response, National Galleries Scotland, Women for Refugee Women and Work Show Grow delivering a mentorship programme to three groups of refugee womxn. The programme supports the participants to develop new skills and knowledge about the professional fields of photography and how to connect to valuable networks.  To find out more about this project and other Fast Forward projects go to our Research page.
