Female in Focus 2022: London Exhibition

An international photography award from British Journal of Photography, Female in Focus was established to champion the work of exceptional women photographers from across the globe and directly combat gender inequality in the photography industry. Globally, 70-80% of photography students are women, yet they account for only 13-15% of professional photographers, and that must change. This year’s call for submissions was centred around the theme of home.

Traversing subjects including climate change (Marie Smith) and the myth of bodily perfection (Jasmine De Silva), the winners present stories of resilience, freedom and joy. With winning images by world-class photographers spanning five continents, British Journal of Photography’s Female in Focus 2022 shows the world through their eyes.

On 27 October celebrate the 20 single images and two series that have won Female in Focus 2022. Attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the work of our 2020 winning photographers displayed digitally throughout the exhibition.
