Conservation Technician, Paper and Photographs

Tate are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Conservation Technician to join the Paper and Photographs Conservation team, to work on Tate’s historic, modern and contemporary collection. You will support Tate’s Exhibitions & Displays, Loans out and Acquisitions Programme. Day-to-day, you will provide mounts, frames and book cradles, assemble and disassemble works of art, assist senior technicians and conservators in finding technical solutions related to the care of Tate’s artworks and keep accurate records for Tate’s collection management system.

You will have a relevant degree level qualification in art or craft, or equivalent experience, knowledge of frame making and mounting works on paper using hand and power tools, experience in handling, packing and installing artworks and the ability to maintain an organised workspace. You will need to be a good problem solver, able to work both independently and as part of a team, as well as provide accurate time estimates for activities undertaken and meet deadlines.

The role is based at Tate Britain, but you will be required to travel between all Tate sites, to support Tate’s programme.
