The ISSP Riga Residency programme is continuing in 2020! This time the Residency is organised in cooperation with kuš! – a Latvian/international platform for comics artists and illustrators – which will create extra opportunities for interdisciplinary interaction between the Residency participants.
Launched in 2018, the ISSP Riga Residency is aimed at photographers and a diverse range of artists working with photography. The residency provides an opportunity for concentrated work on a personal project informed by interaction with the city and its residents. ISSP welcome those interested in creating work referring to the social, cultural and historical context of Riga, as well as those who need to take their time to rethink and complete their ongoing work. The usual duration of the residency is 1-2 months. Collaboration with local artists, community groups and cultural organisations is welcomed. The visiting artists will be offered an opportunity to interact with the local audience in a public artist talk and/or possible other events or pop-up exhibitions.
The residents are housed in a comfortable and spacious apartment in the center of Riga. 3 artists – photographers and illustrators/comics artists – will be hosted at any given time. Each resident will have a private bedroom equipped with a working table and will share a living room and a fully equipped kitchen.
