The Research Institute for Photography and Advocacy (RIPA) is an exciting new research centre based at University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in Farnham. UCA has a lively research culture across all the University’s creative arts disciplines (Crafts and Design; Fine Art, Photography and Visual Communication; Fashion; Film, Media and Performing Arts; Architecture; Business for the Creative Industries). RIPA aims to capitalise on the extensive research experience and knowledge within the photography department at UCA and to collaborate with other institutions across the UK and globally to develop new projects, stimulating debate and intensifying scholarly activity in relation to photography and advocacy.
We are looking for a dynamic, efficient and friendly research officer who is keen to work in the field of photography research and will be assisting the director of RIPA in the development of a wide range of projects and activities including : creating new grant applications, organising research workshops and conferences, supporting the development and organisation of commissioned projects, publications and exhibitions. The role will also cover updating websites and contributing to our social media presence, managing budgets and keeping abreast of the RIPA calendar on a weekly basis. The candidate may need to travel to exhibitions and workshops occasionally to other UCA campuses.
Fast Forward: Women in Photography is one of the key research projects existing in RIPA at the moment and a number of new projects are in development.
It is expected that applicants will have a degree in photography or related subject and that they will be familiar with research assistant work within an arts based environment. A Masters qualification is desirable.
The pro-rated salary for 18.5 hours (2.5 days) per week is £14,904 – £16,604.
