Job: Lecturer in Photography

University of Central Lancashire requires a Lecturer to provide teaching and associated duties on the BA (Hons) Photography course. Duties will include making a contribution to achieving the academic objectives of the School through teaching, acting as module leader for a number of identified modules, undertaking administrative duties relevant to module leadership (administer course registers, assessment records, learning programmes and other records and to engage with the recruitment of students onto courses and to provide appropriate advice on progression and career opportunities).

In addition, the post will require the candidate to support recruitment activities that will lead to travel opportunities and require someone with a passion for their subject area and strong presentation and communication skills. Like all staff in Design you would be expected to get involved in the development of industry contacts and potential employers and other external organisations to develop the course’s employability potential and reputation.

Essential skills are to include:

  • Teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • A good honours degree and relevant postgraduate study.
  • Ability to teach and supervise dissertations or final year practice-based projects.
  • Understanding of critical and theoretical debates in visual culture and/or photography
  • Teaching, learning and assessment skills
  • Planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Excellent presentation and communication / interpersonal skills

Grade/Salary: H (£37,467 – £43,434) pro rata

  • Contract Type: Fixed term contract until 13 June 2022 or upon the return of the substantive postholder, whichever is sooner
  • Hours: Part Time (10 hours per week – 0.27 FTE)
