Job of the Program Officer at OSF

The Program Officer is the pivotal programmatic role at Open Society Foundations. The Program Officer is responsible for making and managing grants and must have a deep and wide knowledge of current trends in their respective fields across the world, while also working collaboratively both within the Open Society Foundations network and with external entities that aim to support their fields.

The Program on Independent Journalism is looking for a Program Officer who will be responsible for coordinating the work-flow focused on “Problem-Solving for Growth” within the “Opening Journalism” portfolio. This includes helping journalistic organisations grow in a digital environment; identify and solve problems; and better reach the goals they have set for themselves. These problems may be related to understanding and engaging more effectively with their communities; developing economic independence; improving the quality of stories; widening the coverage of their reporting; and/or experimenting with ideas that seek to maximize the impact of their journalism.
