Working within a team of skilled Technicians and Technician Demonstrators, the post holder will provide specialist support to students studying on BA Photography, BA and MA Commercial Photography and a range of professional short courses across the subject area, under the management of the Senior Technician. Key duties of this post include delivering and supporting technical and health and safety workshops and demonstrations to groups of students on new and existing equipment, resources, processes and techniques; issuing and receiving equipment and resources to and from stores, including undertaking first line maintenance and maintaining inventories and asset lists; ensuring processes are followed to maintain high standards of health, safety and welfare, under the supervision of the Senior Technician; and providing effective and reactive technical support throughout the working day.
You will have proven experience, in a technical capacity, across a range of traditional and digital still and moving image photographic practices, including studio and location shooting, flash and continuous lighting equipment, chemical and digital darkroom practices and colour and black and white processing and printing. Experience of working in an education setting is desirable, whilst an understanding of effective workplace health and safety, and the ability to work as a member of a team and independently using your own initiative, is essential.
