ISSP in cooperation with Kuldīga Artists’ Residence

The residency programme will provide three photography artists an opportunity for concentrated personal work in Kuldīga – one of the most charming towns in Latvia and a UNESCO National Cultural Heritage site. The artists will be hosted in a beautiful complex of restored wooden houses in the heart of the town established as Kuldīga Artists’ Residence in 2013. The residency is curated by ISSP.
Who can apply?
Photographers and artists working with photography – there are no limitations regarding age, nationality, background or photographic style.
Three residents will be chosen based on the strength of their applications.
Duration and timing
The residency period is from 15 September to 15 October 2017.
Resident support and costs
The artists-in-residence will receive free of charge accommodation for the duration of the stay. The artists will be reimbursed up to 200 EUR for travel costs to Latvia, as well as receive a 100 EUR stipend to cover materials and production expenses.
Residents’ responsibilities
– The residents will be invited to take part in a public event presenting their work in Kuldīga, in cooperation with the local photography club.
– The residents shall allow the organizers to publish some images from the resulting work for non-profit publicity purposes.
– There is no formal obligation to produce a complete project during the period, but the Kuldīga Artists’ Residence would be happy to organise an exhibition of the resulting work in 2018.
Accommodation and facilities
The Kuldīga Artists’ Residence is a beautifully restored wooden house located at walking distance from the town center. Facilities: separate bedroom, private bathroom, shared studio space and kitchen, wi-fi, spacious garden.
A photography studio is available for the residents’ use by arrangement.
