The University are looking for an ambitious academic fashion photographer / fashion film-maker / creative director-practitioner/ researcher to Year Lead on the BA (Hons) Fashion Photography course and to play a significant role in the Fashion & Textiles Institute. You will build on the international reputation of the Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth University and play a key role in leading the development of undergraduate study in the discipline. You will be responsible for assuring the academic standards of the course and its delivery through your academic leadership and effective management of resources. You will contribute to the delivery of the course through your provision of inspiring and supporting learning opportunities, providing a stimulating and nurturing environment for both students and colleagues. The Year Leader will enhance professional, academic and research partnerships to ensure that the course anticipates the changing needs of the global fashion communication industry, commerce and society.
About You
As a sophisticated and innovative Fashion Photographer/Creative Director and academic, you’ll have an extensive industry practise working for leading fashion editorial publications and fashion advertising campaigns. Ideally, you will be educated to Master’s Degree level, your knowledge & direct experience in the creative practice for image making within the context of contemporary fashion photography, creative direction and production for fashion image will be evidenced in your working with publishers, creative agencies and fashion editors.
You will have an in depth understanding and personal experience of the relationship of fashion photography education with the fashion communication industry, both nationally and internationally. You’ll have an advanced theoretical understanding of the field of fashion photography, including its historical, aesthetic, social and political development and context. It is expected that you will have advanced practical and artistic knowledge & skills in the fashion photography field. You will have a wider interest in fashion and its culture and the position requires professional skills relevant and necessary for the development of the field of fashion photography in the area of editorial and advertising fashion image making. Creative and highly motivated, you’ll be experienced in the challenges of enabling diverse student cohorts to explore the discipline of Fashion Photography, to reach their full potential and to foster new approaches to Fashion Photography practice and research.
