Lecturer in Photography (0.5 full-time equivalent)

Location: Brighton – Grand Parade

Salary: £33,574 to £40,082 pro rata

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced academic to join the undergraduate and postgraduate team and participate in developing Photography, a broadly arts-based offer situated within the School of Media which encourages creativity and independence through experimentation and research. You will work across practice and historical and critical areas and support student learning through teaching that includes lectures, seminars, and tutorials. Assessing and providing feedback for practice work and historical and studies work, such as essays also forms a key part of this role. You will also be developing your own research in relation to teaching and other areas of expertise.

You should have expertise in contemporary photographic practice and related areas, knowledge of historical and critical studies relevant to photography, technical skills relating to photographic practice, experience of assessment and feedback, knowledge and experience of professional practice relating to photography, and should, ideally, have some experience of student recruitment, and of exhibition and event organisation.  A postgraduate teaching qualification, or a commitment to studying towards this award within the first 24 months of employment, is also essential, as is engagement in continuous pedagogic development.
