The team of the 5th LUMIX Festival for Young Photojournalism in Hanover/GER, are looking for visually impressive journalistic work from photographers under the age of 35 years to exhibit at the 5th LUMIX Festival.
From the 15th through the 19th of June 2016 the former Expo grounds in Hanover will be converted into a huge, international picture show. Organized by the photojournalism and documentary photography study course of the Hanover University of Applied Sciences and Arts together with the non-profit Association for the Promotion of Photography in Hanover and the support of thegerman photojournalists’ association FREELENS the LUMIX Festival has grown to one of the leading festivals focusing on photojournalism in Europe.

The call for entries will be open until the 31st of January 2016. Among all entries – reportages, essays and series and also multimedia-reportages, slideshows, scrollytelling stories and web-documentaries with a journalistic character – our curators will select the 60 most impressive and outstanding photographic works and around 20 multimeda productions for the showcase of the 5th LUMIX Festival for Young Photojournalism.

All exhibitors will automatically participate in the four award competitions. An international jury will choose the winners of the prizes, worth a total of 23.000 Euro. The FREELENS Award goes to the most impressive work of all festival exhibitions and is rewarded with 10.000 Euro. In addition two “Honorable Mentions” will be awarded with a cash prize of 1.000 Euro each. The Lammerhuber Photography Award, which is worth 5.000 Euro, goes to that report or series, which tells an everyday story in the most impressive way. The best journalistic multimedia production will be awarded with the the LUMIX Award and 5.000 Euro. In addition, two “Honorable Mentions” will also be awarded. The Audience Award, worth 1.000 Euro, is sponsered by the newspaper Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung (HAZ) – all visitors can give their vote for their personal favorite story.
