ABOUT PHOTO KATHMANDU
Photo Kathmandu is an international photography festival that attempts to create conversations between the city, its people, its history, its dreams and aspirations. The festival organizes exhibitions, projections, artist talks, workshops, a mixed-media residency and an arts education program that bring together a diverse range of visual practitioners to respond to various local and global themes. The third edition of the festival is taking place from 12 Oct – 16 Nov 2018.
For the third edition of Photo Kathmandu, we are focusing on creating conversations around issues of gender, patriarchy, power, identity, sexuality and equality. We hope these stories and conversations will contribute to touching hearts and minds to foster empathy, bring about recognition, and eventually change attitudes, social practices and laws here in Nepal. Residency artists are encouraged to but not required to work within this thematic framework.
