Public Art Commission 2017: Call for Artist(s)
Budget: £20,000 inclusive of VAT
MK Gallery, in collaboration with Broughton and Milton Keynes Parish Council and Milton Keynes Council is looking for an artist to work within the local community to create a new public artwork in the area around the Claridge Park housing development, Middleton. We are looking for someone who is able to demonstrate an enthusiasm for, and experience of, connecting with communities and creating art in the public realm.
Aim:
To create a new public artwork in the immediate vicinity of the development to animate the space and engage with the local residents.
Objectives:
- To create an inspirational and engaging public realm commission to be launched in 2017 to coincide with the 50th anniversary celebrations.
- To create a permanently-sited outdoor sculptural installation(s) that responds to the local heritage and is sensitive to the local community and landscape.
- To involve local residents in the development of the project and/or involve the community through a subsequent events programme
- The artwork should have a minimum life expectancy of 10 years and be easy to maintain.
