Open Call: Seeds of Change Conference, Salford

Seeds of Change, a conference delivered by University of Salford and The Sustainable Darkroom, will explore regenerative practices in analogue and digital photography.

For six years, The Sustainable Darkroom has fostered an international community dedicated to
rethinking photography in an age of climate and ecological crisis. While many seek quick
technical fixes for sustainability, their approach has aimed to look deeper—beyond material
substitutions—towards more nuanced, critical, and imaginative understanding of what
photography is and what it can become.

On the publication of The Sustainable Darkroom’s new book Bury After Reading: The Afterlife of Images this conference and exhibition celebrates the community of practice developed through the Sustainable Darkroom and asks how we create radical new visions for the future of photography.
