The Tate are currently recruiting for 4 Casual Photographers to support their Photography and Imaging Team, working across Tate’s London sites. If you’re a cultural heritage photographer looking for occasional work, or a freelance photographer interested in the chance to vary your portfolio in representing one of the UK’s major galleries they’d be very interested in hearing from you. This role presents a unique chance to work with Tate’s core team on an exciting range of subjects from works of art to architecture to events and editorial assignments.
You’ll have a minimum 2 years experience working as a professional photographer, ideally in a heritage environment. The post requires a thorough and technical understanding of photography from lighting to colour management and file formats. You should be equally comfortable shooting tethered on medium format cameras in a fully equipped studio as you are covering a busy event across Tate’s Galleries just with a DSLR.
If you don’t already have experience in conservation imaging you’ll be able to quickly adapt and transfer your photographic knowledge to new processes, with meticulous attention to detail. You’ll manage your work from capture to upload, ensuring images are delivered at the highest standards and to specified deadlines.
Casual Photographers deliver project work, lend their expertise during periods of peak activity, and cover evening/weekend assignments. They are a valuable and key part of our friendly, supportive team.
