Photoworks would like to appoint two Writers in Residence for 2025 to each contribute to two issues of Photography+. This role includes working closely with Photoworks’ Assistant Curator and Co-Editor, Amin Yousefi, to meet deadlines and deliver two articles of approximately 1000 words.
Photography+ is our quarterly online magazine. Read by international audiences, the digital publication showcases new writing, imagery, and perspectives on photography. Each issue focuses on a different theme, exploring how photography crosses over with everyday life. In past issues, we have focused on themes such as Hope and Futurity, Time, Group Dynamics, Seen/Unseen and more.
The successful writers should have a working knowledge of contemporary photography as well as a willingness to look beyond photography for inspiration. This opportunity suits early-career writers looking to gain experience writing and publishing online. Photoworks is based in the UK, but writers are welcome to apply from all over the world. This is a paid residency with a fee of £300 per article, with expected outputs of two articles plus online or in-person meetings with the Photoworks team.
