The Science Museum is looking for a Project Management Support Assistant to assist and support the research, developement and support the delivery of exhibition content for ‘The India’ temporary exhibition
To provide co-ordination, organisational and administrative support to Media Space photography programme, and to the India Season. The India Season comprises two exhibitions: India and Photography, in the Main Gallery, andIndia and Science in the Virgin Studio Space, and an accompanying events programme, and is scheduled to open in September 2017.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to work with the project leader in showcasing the exhibition. This will include exposing the long pre-colonial history of scientific intellectual and practical advances made in ‘India’, this term referring to a time before partition in 1947, and encompassing a wide region of south Asian including today’s Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The ‘India’ exhibition is part of a broader season which will, alongside an Indian photography exhibition, form part of the Science Museum’s contribution to the UK/India Year of Culture, marking 70 years of Independence from Britain. It will also acknowledge the advent, under colonialism, of western scientific culture and its subsequent local development as part of a modern, collective, global endeavour.
The successful candidate will have proven experience and achievements in office management or high-level administrative role, preferably in a gallery or museum. Demonstrable experience of working with minimal direction in a busy environment. Budget and financial experience. Experience of coordinating projects from idea to delivery.
