Falmouth University’s mission is to become one of the pioneering specialist multi-arts institutions in the world, setting a benchmark for excellence in creative education across art, design, media, performance and writing.
BA (Hons) Fashion Photography is part of the Fashion and Textiles Institute at Falmouth and has been running since September 2011. We are seeking to appoint a Senior Technician 0.5 FTE (17.5 hours per week) to work alongside our energetic and dynamic teaching team with specialist and professional technical expertise in fashion image-making.
Our team believes that students must have a developed understanding of the many professional aspects involved in the production of successful fashion images, films and animations. The successful candidate will have excellent abilities, based on a thorough and up to date knowledge of contemporary practices, to teach the core specialist techniques and technologies inherent in the capture, processing, production and post-production of both still and moving forms of fashion imagery.
We are seeking a candidate with an excellent working knowledge of a wide range of relevant photographic resources and excellent abilities, based on professional experience, to teach high-end retouching and compositing (to an advanced level), fashion film (from capture, production and editing / special effects) and other emerging and contemporary forms of digital production. Due to the ever-changing nature of the industry, a commitment to continuous specialist development is a crucial part of the role, together with strong ability and experience in using relevant specialist software including Adobe Photoshop, Premiere and InDesign.
We are looking for an individual who is ambitious, motivated and enthusiastic, with the ability to excite students through industry-linked initiatives, demonstrating a progressive and dynamic approach to teaching. The successful candidate will have the flexibility to work in different locations (in a range of settings and contexts) and will have a full, clean driving licence in order to make use of the course’s location vehicle.
Health and safety is taken very seriously at Falmouth University. You will need a working knowledge and demonstrable industry experience of the health and safety issues involved with this role. Whilst you may not have a recognised H&S qualification at present you will be expected to study for one through the university’s continuing Professional Development Program.
This is an exciting opportunity to add to our already unique industry experienced academic and technical team and to contribute to the growth of a dynamic and expanding course.
