Student Artist Facilitator at Photoworks Festival 2026

Photoworks is looking for sixteen art-loving students for the role of Student Artist Facilitator to help deliver creative workshops for secondary school groups during the Photoworks Festival. In pairs you will plan a series of simple creative tasks such as discussion, photography and drawing, test these with each other ahead of working with your school groups, then come back together to reflect on the experience.

Key responsibilities & duties:

  • Work closely with the Photoworks team to plan simple, practical and engaging photography focused activities for pupils aged 11-18.
  • Deliver these activities as part of facilitated tours for school groups across a two-day period (exact length of each session tbc).
  • Liaise as required with your delivery partner and the Photoworks team
  • Contribute to ongoing evaluation (ensuring surveys are completed in session time with pupils and teachers, supported by Photoworks).
  • Ensure all activities comply with Photoworks’ rigorous safeguarding standards and paperwork is kept up to date.

Photoworks Festival 2026 is an international festival of contemporary photography that takes place across Brighton & Hove this October consisting of exhibitions, events and activities that take place at various arts venues throughout the city. As part of the festival Photoworks is offering facilitated exhibition tours to secondary schools across Sussex and beyond. Students aged between 11 and 18 will attend in groups with their teachers and take part in creative activities that support their engagement with, and enjoyment of the exhibitions.
