FORMAT International Photography Festival is one of the largest contemporary photography biennales in the UK, showcasing both upcoming and established photography talent and reaching international audiences. It relies on a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers to ensure a great experience for everybody involved.

This year FORMAT takes place from 12th March 2021 – 11th April (TBC) 2021, with launch night taking place on Thursday 11th March 2021. In these unprecedented times, FORMAT21 has an ambitious programme of both online and real world exhibitions, events and portfolio reviews planned.

Format are looking to recruit a variety of people from different backgrounds and with different levels of expertise and experience to help deliver one of our most diverse festival programmes to date, through both online and real world volunteering opportunities.

FORMAT21 offers volunteers the invaluable experience of working with internationally renowned curators, photographers, and a festival management team, and the camaraderie of being part of an international arts experience. FORMAT will provide training, support and (for regular volunteers) a reference to help your future career. We can offer a great experience, working as part of a friendly and supportive team, to deliver one of the UK’s leading photography festivals.
