Northumbria University, supported by the Woon Foundation is seeking to appoint a candidate to support the Director of the University Gallery in the safe management of the Gallery space. You will support the daily management of the gallery space, including opening and closing, supporting the management of the collection and supporting the co-ordination packing and transit of museum items.

The Woon Gallery of Asian Art houses a substantial number of items from the Woon Foundation’s collection selected for their depictions of Buddhist culture and religious belief. The University Gallery has until 2018 focused on modern and contemporary Western Art but is now developing a more global approach with the support of the Woon Foundation and the display of their Asian Art Collection in a new purpose- built gallery. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop the University Gallery and its holding of Asian Art in order to support research, learning and external engagements. The candidate would be working with colleagues from visual culture cultural management, fine art and conservation within the University as well as with colleagues in Asian Art Collections in the UK and China.
