Hope

Published by Self-published

A little gem, published in 15 copies, combining the artists photographs with found archival images, hand-stitched with a read thread by the artist. “My grandmother’s name, Nadezhda, means “hope” in Russian. She has always been interested in fashion. She used to sew clothes for herself and her children in Soviet times, when there were shortages in the stores. Now she is 94, blind and has almost lost her memory due to Alzheimer disease, but still keeps hoping to be able to sew again. I literally stitched the pieces of memory for her together in the photo book “Hope”..
