Set up to empower female photographic talent and promote their work to an international audience, the Alpha Female Award aims to create a powerful platform and ensure the photographic industry is a space where both genders can excel.
The award stems from the Alpha Universe’s Alpha Female initiative by Sony US, which focuses on creating opportunities for professional photographers, videographers, and filmmakers to help foster a richer, more diverse creative community.
Selected from the SWPA Open Competition, the images shortlisted for the Alpha Female Award are: Natural Beauty, Aleksandra Gabarczyk; Monocle, Anna Karvounari; Unfinished, Anna Rossetti; Oceanic Tapestry, Beatrice Wong; The Hand, Callie Eh; Super Natural Cloudburst One, Cheryl Maeder; Hanging In, Foteini Zaglara; Maybe Tomorrow I’ll Write a Poem, Jana Fašungová; The Lady in Red, Rosella Tapella; Calm Waters, Rosetta Bonatti; Untitled, Sofia Fernandez Stenstrom; Still Waiting, Sonia De Wit; Winter Solitude, Sonia Ivancsics; Self-Portrait of Veronica, Veronica Stroomer.
The Sony World Photography Awards is World Photography Organisation’s principal programme. Established in 2007, it is one of the world’s biggest and most prestigious photography competitions; celebrating the work of leading and emerging practitioners. World Photography Organisation is the photography strand of Creo.
