Established in 1981 and situated in its iconic building in Brixton’s Windrush Square since 2014, Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is the only national repository of Black history and culture in the UK.
The unparalleled and growing archive collection offers insight into the history of people of African and Caribbean descent in Britain. BCA recognises the importance of untold stories and providing a platform to encourage enquiry and dialogue. BCA place people and their historical accounts at the heart of everything we do.
Following the success of Radiating Greatness in 2019, BCA is proud to unveil Breaking Barriers, the second chapter of a three-year project to make visible the journeys of pioneering Black British women who have overcome adversity to take their rightful seat at the table.
