Created in 2021 and 2022, Together-Apart captures a moment when student life was gradually returning to campus after the isolation of the pandemic. At Goldsmiths School of Design, students came together through an analogue photobooth to create a collective portrait. Because the booth could only be used in person, the photographs became records of returning to campus, reconnecting and being together again.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a book bringing together stories, memories and recollections from this period. The publication reflects on the importance of community to creative work and everyday life, preserving the experiences and connections behind the photographs.
This exhibition is part of Photograph Arts PhotoMonth 2026, which includes 35 exhibitions all across the city of London throughout October, including shows at major art institutions, independent galleries and venues, and community spaces by independent practioners.
